ChexVictims.com Open to Public

ChexVictims.com had previously required you to go through the free registration process just to read the help forums. This was for legal reasons. However, due to changes in the landscape, http://www.chexvictims.com will now be open to the public for reading. You still have to register if you want to participate on the forums. However, you can now get the list of banks that don't use chexsystems without registering or even letting anyone know you were there.

We still encourage you to join and ask that you help at least one other person. The forums have been running since 1999 entirely on the basis of members helping members with no fees. There are plenty of other places that will take advantage of you and charge for the non-chexsystems bank lists. We believe that this information should be free. This was the first year that we put advertising on the site. We put some google ads on the site to help cover the cost of hosting. It has cost me well over $15,000 since starting http://www.chexvictims.com, and that is just the hosting costs. That doesn't include the cost of the forum software I have used over the years. I am currently using the "Standard" version of Community server which only cost me about $350 (I dont remember the amount exactly). Previous versions of our site have run on much more expensive platforms. I lament the idea that we have had to put ads on the site. It somehow cheapens the site to me. If I can find a way to afford the site without charging users for information that needs to be free, I will. I also don't want to put up a donate button. I am just providing the hosting of the site and an occasional post with guidance. Our members, and in particular our moderators, have been keeping the site up to date. I wouldn't feel right collecting "donations" for running the site that they make work.
